Akademy attracts people from around the world. Travel and accommodation are important considerations for the Akademy Team and for people who are attending Akademy. The first part of July is busy in Bilbao; there is a big music festival taking place from 11-13 July. We strongly encourage you to plan your trip to Akademy 2013 and book your hotel as soon as possible.
KDE e.V. may reimburse Akademy travel costs according to the KDE e.V. reimbursement policy. When you register for Akademy, you will see an online form to apply for your travel sponsorship. Please use this form instead of emailing the KDE e.V. board directly.
Some inexpensive rooms have been reserved at the "Blas de Otero" Residence, a student dormitory. We cannot guarantee availability or price, so please check directly with the individual hotels.
The KDE e.V. AGM starts on the morning of Friday 12th July, so KDE e.V. members should plan to arrive on Thursday 11th July, unless they are travelling only a short distance.
Please note: For those attendees whose travel and accommodation will be sponsored by KDE e.V., we have booked and paid for hostel beds at the Blas de Otero Residence. If you have applied for sponsorship or are planning to do so, you need to contact Claudia Rauch, rauch at kde dot org, who will make the booking for you there. Do not book the accommodation yourself, or else KDE e.V. will not be able to reimburse you.
The student hostel for sponsored attendees is located within walking distance (20 minute walk) to both venues. It has free WiFi, meeting rooms and a gym. We have reserved double (twin beds) rooms and a few single rooms. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom and a kitchenette. If your travel sponsorship is approved, we will book your room and send you the reservation details.
